| Tom was born and raised in
Middlebury, Vermont, and also attended Middlebury College. After college,
Tom joined the Peace Corps and served for two years in Cameroon, West
Africa as a mathematics teacher. After his return to the United States, he
began working for the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington,
D.C., as a management analyst. |

After two years in Washington, Tom came back to
Vermont to attend Vermont Law School where he graduated cum laude. Following law school, Tom fulfilled his clerkship agreement with Judge Michael Kupersmith in Addison County. Tom was admitted to the Vermont Bar in 1993 and
also has been admitted to the United States District Court for the District of
Vermont and Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Tom has argued numerous
cases before the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Vermont Supreme
Court, and served as an Acting Judge in Franklin and Lamoille counties.
Tom's practice is concentrated mostly to civil
litigation with a focus on employment law, wrongful termination, worker's
compensation, and personal injury law. He also represents parties in domestic
and criminal matters. Two decisions of specific importance are 98.5 Associates,
Ltd. vs Daewoo, 2008 VT 15, and Payne vs US Airways, 2007 VT Y6.
Tom enjoys kayaking,
backpacking, skiing, snowshoeing, and taking long walks with his family and yellow
Labrador, Zoey.
