Attorney Biography:
Richard A. Lang, Jr.


Richard was born in New Rochelle, New York. He graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and then from Cornell Law School. He is admitted to practice law in Vermont as well as in New York and Florida.

Following graduation from law school, Richard served a one year appointment as a law clerk to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and then went on to practice law in New York until 1972 when he and his family moved to Vermont.

In Vermont, Richard concentrated in the areas of commercial bankruptcy and commercial transactions as well as banking law and commercial real estate. His practice has also included a strong litigation component and he has represented clients in litigation in both the state and federal courts.

In addition, Richard's practice has included a number of other areas of law. He has represented clients in immigration matters, family law cases, insurance coverage and defense cases, environmental disputes, employment issues, residential real estate and a wide range of other civil matters.

Richard has been active in the community. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Fletcher Free Library and the Chittenden County Transportation Authority. Since July, 1997, Richard has been a member and then chairman of the Burlington Planning Commission.
