Attorney Harry Parker Speaks on Future of Vermont Debt Collection at VBA Mid-Year Meeting
On March 31, 2017, attorney Harry C. Parker represented the firm on a panel at the Vermont Bar Association Mid-Year Meeting in Manchester, Vermont to discuss the future of debt collection in the State of Vermont. Also on the panel were Ilerdon Mayer, Esq., of Mayer & Mayer, Grace Pasdan, Esq., of Vermont Legal Aid, Hon. Helen Toor, Superior Court Judge, Civil Division, and Chair of the Vermont Civil Oversight Committee, and Dan Richardson, Esq., of Tarrant Gillies & Richardson. Attorney Parker’s presentation focused on federal regulation and oversight of large market participants and how representing these clients can present a unique set of challenges for Vermont practitioners. The conversation also covered a bill sponsored by consumer rights advocates and its potential impact on what is already a complex area of law subject to significant scrutiny. Our goal is to continue to impact this discussion in the future through client advocacy and effective litigation with a focus on compliance and best practice implementation.
